School Challenge

Put healthy food on the school timetable!

The Novo Nordisk School Challenge offers parents, schoolteachers and after-school teachers lots of fun educational games and activities that will help to get children into healthy habits. The earlier in life that healthy habits are formed, the greater the chance that these habits will be maintained in adult life, which considerably reduces the risk of developing lifestyle diseases such as type 2 diabetes.

All the activities are based on two simple messages for improving children’s health:

Cut down on sugar and fat, and eat 400–600 grams of fruit and vegetables a day.

Exercise at least 60 minutes a day.

Unite for diabetes

When you use the School Challenge actively with children, you are helping to support Novo Nordisk’s diabetes prevention work. Novo Nordisk’s work targets diabetes by developing medicine, researching cures and supporting campaigns that try to prevent new cases of type 2 diabetes.

By engaging children in School Challenge activities you are helping to implement the diabetes resolution that was adopted in the UN in December 2006. Among other things, the resolution makes World Diabetes Day (14 November) a UN-observed day. In the work to implement the resolution, Novo Nordisk has decided to focus its efforts on children and young people – both those who already have diabetes and those who are at risk of developing diabetes later in life.
