Global Diabetes Walk
Walk with children
The annual Global Diabetes Walk is a fantastic opportunity to put the focus on an active lifestyle for both children and adults. By walking for half an hour you will help to raise awareness of diabetes and remind everyone that type 2 diabetes can be prevented by staying healthy.
In 2005 almost 90,000 people from 39 countries took part in the walk, which is organised by the World Diabetes Foundation in conjunction with Novo Nordisk. Once again this year children from all over the world are invited to take part in the walk. On the World Diabetes Foundation’s Global Diabetes Walk website you can register for the walk and get inspiration to organise a walk for children in your local area.

Global Diabetes Walk fundraiser helps developing countries
By raising money on the Global Diabetes Walk you can help people with diabetes in developing countries to get access to diabetes treatment. For example, in 2006 the Global Diabetes Walk is supporting the 500,000 people or so who live in the slum areas of the town of Belo Horizonte in Brazil. Proportionally, the number of people with diabetes is far too high in these areas. You could raise funds by donating a sum for each participant.
